{"id":157,"date":"2013-08-03T08:20:46","date_gmt":"2013-08-03T13:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/?p=157"},"modified":"2013-08-03T08:26:10","modified_gmt":"2013-08-03T13:26:10","slug":"challah-bread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/?p=157","title":{"rendered":"Challah Bread"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pf-content\"><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090499small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-158\" alt=\"P1090499small\" src=\"http:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090499small-800x1066.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090499small-800x1066.jpg 800w, https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090499small-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090499small.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"P1090501small\" src=\"http:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090501small-800x1066.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1066\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090504small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-160\" alt=\"P1090504small\" src=\"http:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090504small-800x1066.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090504small-800x1066.jpg 800w, https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090504small-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tiffanycooks.cyberphreak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/P1090504small.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>This was one of those recipes that I was so proud of myself for completing!\u00a0 This is a confidence building recipe for sure!\u00a0 Follow the directions exactly and you should have no problems&#8230;I used all purple flour.\u00a0 This recipe is from my older book, &#8220;Betty Crocker Cookbook, New Edition&#8221; (c) 2005.\u00a0 I used cooking spray in step #8.\u00a0\u00a0 I promise it is FUN!\u00a0 My favorite photo is the one at the bottom of the page.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3 to 3 1\/4 cups all-purpose or bread flour<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>1\/4 cup sugar<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 1\/2 teaspoons salt<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 package regular or quick active dry yeast (2 1\/4 teaspoons)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 cup very warm water (120\u00b0 to 130\u00b0F)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>2 tablespoons vegetable oil<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 large egg<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Butter or margarine, melted, if desired<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DIRECTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>In large bowl, mix 1 1\/2 cups of the flour, the sugar, salt and yeast.\u00a0 Add warm water and oil.\u00a0 Beat with electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute, scraping bowl frequently.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Beat on medium speed 1 minute, scraping bowl frequently.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Add egg; beat until smooth.\u00a0 Stir in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Place dough on lightly floured surface.\u00a0 Knead about 10 minutes or until dough is smooth and springy.\u00a0 (I used my Kitchenaid for this step).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Grease large bowl with shortening.\u00a0 Place dough in bowl, turning dough to grease all sides.\u00a0 (At this point, dough can be refrigerated up to 24 hours).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cover bowl loosely with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until dough has doubled in size.
