I&#8217;m keeping this up for people searching for this recipe, but please don&#8217;t make it if you have an IC bladder.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is a great entree from America&#8217;s Test Kitchen via the slow cooker. \u00a0It is quick to assemble, but it&#8217;s just a waiting game in two stages. \u00a0First the spice and refrigerate overnight waiting game and then the slow cooker wait. \u00a0Pay attention to trim and quarter the roast. \u00a0I bought two 2.5 lb. roasts and halved them, but you can purchase a 5 lb. roast and quarter it &#8211; if you can find it. \u00a0We could only find 2.5 lb-ers and 8 lb-ers. \u00a0I omitted the cayenne pepper and it was just fine. \u00a0Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>To un-carb-ify it, I didn&#8217;t opt for a bun. \u00a0It would have looked better in the photo, but it is what it is.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8211;Honestly, I didn&#8217;t go through the braising liquid step. \u00a0Maybe next time! \u00a0I was tired and didn&#8217;t want another step. \u00a0It was just fine without doing that process, but next time I&#8217;ll try it. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>INGREDIENTS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/4 cup packed brown sugar, plus extra as needed<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup sweet paprika**<\/li>\n<li>1 T. garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>1 T. onion powder**<\/li>\n<li>1 T. ground cumin**<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. cayenne pepper**<\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper**<\/li>\n<li>One 5LB. boneless pork butt roast, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">trimmed and quartered<\/span><\/li>\n<li>1 cup BBQ sauce, (plus extra for serving if desired)**<\/li>\n<li>Cider vinegar**<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">**Known IC irritants, tread carefully!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DIRECTIONS:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne, and 1\/2 tsp. salt in a bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Using fork, prick pork all over. \u00a0Rub sugar mixture over pork, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 8-24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Unwrap pork and place in slow cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Spread BBQ sauce evenly over pork, cover, and cook until pork is tender 9-11 hours on low OR 5-7 hours on high. \u00a0(Mine took about 8 hours on low in my Crock Pot).<\/li>\n<li>Transfer pork to large bowl, let cool slightly, then shred into bite size pieces, discarding excess fat. \u00a0Cover to keep warm.<\/li>\n<li>Let braising liquid settle for 5 mins, then remove fat from surface using a large spoon. \u00a0Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and vinegar to taste (if desired).<\/li>\n<li>Toss shredded pork with one cup of the braising liquid, add more liquid as needed to keep meat moist. \u00a0Serve with BBQ sauce.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe is EXCEPTIONALLY NOT I.C.
